The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Akuapem South in the Eastern Region
Osei Bonsu Amoah has withdrawn from the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary
primary slated for January 27, 2024.

Mr O. B Amoah informed the party of his decision to quit the parliamentary race in a
letter dated January 19, 2024.

“I write to inform you that I have decided to withdraw as a candidate for election of
a Parliamentary Candidate for the General Elections in 2024 in the Akuapem South
constituency,” he stated.

He further urged the leadership of the NPP to delete his name from the ballot paper
“I respectfully request that in accordance with the Public Elections Regulations,
2016, C.I 94, my name should be deleted on the ballot paper for the election,” he
urged.

His withdrawal now leaves Kwame Ofori- Gyau, Frank Aidoo and Eric Samuel Annor-
Mensah to slug it out in the January 27 primary.
Mr O.B Amoah’s decision to step down brings to 19 the number of incumbent MPs
who will not be returning to parliament on the ticket of the NPP in 2025.
